Lake District snow capped mountains! Wow, I had an incredible morning on Catbells summit high above our little mountain town of Keswick. December started with a perfect dusting of snow on the northern fells. I consider myself extremely lucky to be a Keswick based photographer. This was one of those early morning walks with the head torch on in pursuit of golden morning light. Sunrise was a little dull due to the thick cloud base preventing any light hitting the stunning Cumbrian landscape. After waiting for over an hour, we were blessed with jaw dropping light illuminating the hillside and a temperature inversion. It’s moments like these when your patience pays off and all of a sudden you’re on a photography high amongst some of the most spectacular scenery England has to offer. Would you believe I was up there a lot longer than I had planned. I had my trusty Sony A7rmk3 with me and the G Master 16-35mm wide landscape lens, randomly swapping with the Sony 85mm G master. Mother nature certainly provided the conditions I was hoping for on this winter morning and I left with a stunning selection of panoramic landscapes that are available for print or commercial use from my stock library of photographs. A little bonus from this morning was a time-lapse of the cloud inversion sweeping across Derwentwater and rising up towards me. It’s well worth a watch if you are a lover of the Lake District National Park.
