An atmospheric Derwentwater morning, captured with my new Sony A9 mirrorless camera. I have been shooting with mirrorless cameras for around 6 years now and I finally sold my Olympus OMD and Fuji XT2 system, replacing it with the recently released Sony A9. I am still using my Canon 5D mk 4’s for wedding photography at the moment, however, I have the new Sony A7R mk 3 on order and it looks like I could be changing camera systems soon. Rather than copy and pasting camera specifications, I hope to post a few real world examples of my photography with the A9. This camera has had a lot of hype recently so I thought I would give it a try and see if it really is the digital slr killer? My work ranges from wedding photography to commercial, portraits and landscapes. I do currently have a nauticam underwater housing for my canon camera system and this is something that may have to be replaced at a later date, if I wish to shoot underwater with the A9 or A7r mk3. It’s early days at the moment and there are quite a few lenses on the shopping list. Christmas is just around the corner! Dear Santa………….
It’s been a while since I wrote this blog post and quite a lot has changed. I now have a new look website which offers a better visual experience and functionality. I have also moved over to the Sony camera system for everything I shoot, except for my underwater photography. I hope to update this post soon with more reviews from both my professional usage and leisure experiences. I have also acquired more equipment since my original post on the mirrorless Sony camera system. The Sony A6400 is the biggest addition to compliment my Sony family of gadgets. My main reason for the A6400 was to have a compact action camera for a recent mountain biking trip to the beautiful island of Maderia. The trip was absolutely incredible and the images I captured deserve an individual blog post which will cover cycling with a compact camera system.
So…..as my original post was featured on the Sony A9, this blog post will now feature my whole Sony system experience including a variety of wedding photography, commercial work and Lake District landscapes. The Sony Alpha A1 fifty mega pixel camera has just been released and is high on my shopping list paired with the 200mm – 600mm Lens. Watch this space for more test shots and examples from my Sony system experience.
