Dunmail Raise and RAF Hercules low level flying
Wow! What a sight this was after walking up a stunning Lake District fell. Two RAF Hercules low level flying over Thirlmere reservoir. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this pair heading straight for me in a picture perfect formation. I managed to see a quick flash of sunlight hitting the cockpits whilst the two Hercules were approaching Dunmail Raise. Captured on the Canon 5D MK3 Camera and the 100-400mm mk 1 lens. Purchase photographic prints and canvas from the shopping area of my website.
Hercules twins, one skimming Thirlmere Lake and one cruising the fell side. A spectacular day out with the camera and Yogi (Our chocolate Labrador. Good light provided favourable camera settings for this long distance image. Camera settings as follows – 2000 sec F5.6 iso 400 created this photograph. I usually shoot aeroplanes with propellers at a much slower shutter than 2000th of sec. More examples of other RAF aeroplanes can be seen on the website.
