Cloud Inversion Skiddaw – Keswick Landscape Photography
I love early morning walks with Yogi (Our Chocolate Labrador). It’s always a bonus if you are out with the camera and a double bonus being high above a cloud inversion. The Lake District truly is a spectacular place to live and work all year round, with intersting seasons. Those misty mornings in Keswick can be a little misleading to some people, who are often fooled by the conditions. It’s quite often a different day on top of the fells once you have gained a little altitude, catching the sunrise is an added piece of interest.
I set out to capture a few Lake District Landscapes on this particular morning, to add to my portfolio. Yogi was as fast as ever up Catbells. With the added weight of my camera equipment, I find it hard to keep up with his four chocolate paws. I knew sunrise was due at around 6.30 and I had quite a distance to cover to get to my intended little spot. After setting up and having the tripod ready, I was excited to see what mother nature had in store for us. WOW! An awesome sunrise and a picture perfect cloud inversion. This was one of those mornings where we would have loved staying out longer, but the office was calling with more wedding photographs to upload and edit.
We hope to capture more ridge walks and early mornings this Autumn in the Lake District. The photographs below include the local Keswick Fells ….. Skiddaw, Blencathra and Catbells. This was a spectacular morning amongst the mountains. Equipment used to capture these photographs ……. Canon 5D Mark 3 Camera, Canon 24-70mm mk2 Lens. Lowepro Vertex 300 camera bag. Three Legged Thing Tripod.
I have also included a video that was captured in March with my drone during another inversion.
