Lake District Sunrise Photograph at Castlerigg Stone Circle
If you are looking for a location for a Lake District Sunrise Photograph, I can recommend Castlerigg Stone Circle. This has got to be one of the best locations in Cumbria for both sunrise and sunset photographs. Surrounded by 360 degree panoramic views across the northern fells, you have various backdrops to aid your composition. I captured this image at 6.30 am on the 26th of March before starting my Lake District Landscape Photography Course at Leathes Head Hotel in Borrowdale.
Equipment used to photograph this Landscape was the Canon 5D MK3 and the Canon 16-35mm MK2. My camera settings were 1/8th second F16 and iso100. A slow shutter speed of 1/8th of a second was handled with my three legged thing tripod.
Castlerigg Stone Circle is situated high above my local town of Keswick and is sign posted very well with parking available. The circle consists of 38 weird and wonderful shaped stones, some of which stand five foot in height. Some of the most well-known mountains in Cumbria look over Castlerigg including Skiddaw, Blencathra, Hellvelyn and Blencathra.
My next photography workshop is on the 8th of May 2014 with another date being the 25th of September 2014. If you are looking at taking your photography skills to the next level you can book now via the Leathes Head Hotel HERE
